Champs slug way past Moore Co. in ‘Classic

BELL BUCKLE — After falling on Friday night to Spring Hill in the Rebel-Wildcat Classic, Cascade rebounded in a big way with a dominant 11-6 win over Moore County in a Saturday matinee.
The bats were hot as Cascade hammered the Raider pitching staff to the tune of 16 hits.
It was Daymian Maldonado who led the way with a 4-for-4 afternoon, including a pair of doubles.
Jayden Hathcock finished with a 3-for-4 effort, while Thomas Demartelaere and Zykaiah Dixon each doubled as well.
Moore County built a 4-0 lead by the top of the second inning, but Cascade responded in a big way, plating three in the bottom of the second.
Cascade then tied the game with a single run in the fourth, before Moore County again leapfrogged back in front with a two-spot in the fourth.
Cascade pulled within one when River Maddox ground out, scoring Maldonado, making it a 6-5 game.
While the first four innings was nothing short of a seesaw affair, Cascade slammed the door shut with six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Demartelaere was the offensive hero, driving in three runs on the night, while River Maddox drove in a pair of runs.
Dawson Youngblood got the nod on the mound and pitched four innings, giving up six earned runs on eight hits, while striking out three.
Elijah Wesenberg worked three innings in relief as well, striking out seven and giving up just one hit.
