TULLAHOMA — Just four players for the Tullahoma Wildcats found their way into the scoring column on Tuesday night against Shelbyville Central, but three of the four went for double figures, highlighted by the 24-point night by Xavier Farrell.
With that surge by Farrell, the Wildcats picked up the 60-41 win over the Golden Eagles.
Although offense was a struggle at times for Shelbyville, the Eagles finished the first half trailing by just eight points.
The difference in the game came in a third-quarter barrage by Farrell, who scored 14 of his total points in the period, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Shelbyville hung around through the first half, thanks largely in part to the efforts of Jordan Taylor, who scored six points in the first two quarters.
After the intermission, Farrell’s red-hot shooting picked up and the Eagles just couldn’t match the effort.
In the third, Tae’Shawn Shelton knocked down a pair of baskets, while Jevon Lee added two as well.
Having shot just two free throws in the game through the first thee quarters, the Eagles were able to work their way to the line in the fourth and made good on 5-of- 9 attempts.
Still, the Wildcats closed the game on a 12-9 run to preserve the 19-point win.
Shelton led the Eagles with 12 points.
As a team, Tullahoma connected on four treys, while the Eagles were held scoreless from the arc.
