Eagles run wild for big Senior Night win

SHELBYVILLE —The best way to cap off Senior Night is always a win for the upperclassmen.
\Such was the case as Shelbyville Central cruised to a 42-14 win over Lawrence County on Friday night.
The Golden Eagles (7-1, 4-0) recognized the senior class before the game.
“You couldn’t ask for a better group. They exemplify so many things we try to teach in our program and meet our expectations and who we want to develop in every single way,” Shelbyville Central coach Jud Dryden said.
“This senior class is a true example of what we want out of out guys, both on and off the field.”
Coach Dryden wanted for his team to have a quick start and the offense didn’t let him down, scoring on the first offensive play of the game.
Sophomore quarterback Steven Bobo took the snap and raced 42 yards for the touchdown.
Ben Betzelberger connected the kick after for the 7-0 lead.
On Shelbyville Central’s second possession, Steven Bobo hooked up with running back Robert Bailey out of the backfield on a 30-yard screen pass for a touchdown.

Betzelberger’s kick was good for the 14-0 lead with 6:14 left in the opening quarter.
“It was huge for us to start fast on offense, It allowed us to control the game from that point and put us in a good situation,” Dryden said.
Lawrence County (2-6, 1-4) took advantage of a missed 52-yard field goal when Gage Smith fielded the kick at the 1-yard line and returned it 99 yards for a  touchdown.
Sarah Morrison’s kick was good to cut the lead to 14-7.
Zimmerman added a touchdown for the Golden Eagles off a 3-yard run and the kick put the Golden Eagles up 21-7 at the half.

added a pair of touchdown by Zimmerman in the third quarter, a 3-yard run followed by a seven yarder.
Betzelberger was good on both extra-points for the 35-7 lead.
Steven Bobo scored on an 8-yard run with John Betzelberger good on the kick with 8:33 left to play.
Lawrence County added a score late in the game.
Then Golden Eagle defense was solid, allowing only 124 yards of offense while coming up with four turnovers.
William Bobo, Steven Bobo and Labron Ransom each had an interception while Palmer Edwards recovered a fumble.
Zimmerman rushed for 133 yards on 19m carries with three touchdowns.
Steven Bobo connected on 8-of-16 passes for 72 yards and a TD while rushing for 61 yards and a pair of TDs.
Shelbyville Central travels to Lincoln County on Friday for an key region matchup.
