SHELBYVILLE — While the final score didn’t tip in favor of the Golden Eaglettes, Shelbyville Central stood tall against a talented Nolensville team in a non-district clash on Tuesday night that saw the Lady Knights take a 3-0 win.
Nolensville needed less than four minutes to find its mismatch and fire a strike to the back of the net.
The Lady Knights got the first goal of the night off a corner kick played from Reagan Wagner to Elsa Shonnard for the 1-0 lead in the fourth minute of regulation.
Although Nolensville continued to press into the Golden Eaglette end of the field and control possession through most of the half, the Shelbyville Central back line held strong and kept it a one-score game through the first half.
In the 40th minute, the Lady Knights doubled their lead with a second score and despite falling behind 2-0, the Golden Eaglettes continued to press the attack.
Katilyn Burk took a shot in the 55th minute, but was unable to break through for the score.
Just three minutes later, the Lady Knights found their final score when Elsa Shonnard laced a shot to the back of the net for the final score of the night.
Although the Lady Knights held a 3-0 lead, the Eaglettes simply wouldn’t relent.
In the 62nd minute, Britzel Hayitin had a good look off an Eaglette corner kick, but had her shot blocked by the Lady Knight goal keeper.
In the final minutes, Eaglette goal keeper Diana Arias made a clutch save in the 79th minute to preserve the score.
The Eaglettes return home on Thursday night and will host Spring Hill at 6:30 p.m.
