Eaglettes offense stalls at Tullahoma

TULLAHOMA — An inconsistent night at arch-rival Tullahoma was more than Shelbyville Central could overcome on Tuesday night in a 44-29 loss to the Lady Wildcats.
Early on, offense was blatantly a struggle for the Eaglettes, who were outscored by Tullahoma 15-5 in the opening frame.
The lone points in the first quarter came from Janiya Leslie.
Despite trailing by 10 after the first eight minutes, the Eaglettes rallied in the second quarter and cut the Lady Wildcat lead to just two possessions by halftime.
On a 14-9 tear in the second quarter, five different Eaglettes found their way into the scoring column.
Leslie added a second 3-pointer in the first half and Lanaya Young’s first basket of the night came on a triple as well.
Nijah Gray added a pair of baskets as well.
But as quickly as the momentum shifted in favor of Shelbyville, Tullahoma snatched it right back with a barrage of 3-pointers in the third frame.
Aubrey North knocked down a pair of triples in the third quarter and Isabella Lidstrom added a third to spur an 11-6 run in the quarter.
Both offenses ground to a near-halt in the fourth quarter, with both teams being held to single digits.
Shelbyville, while able to work to the line in the fourth. could only muster up a 2-for-5 effort in the fourth and got just one field goal courtesy of Young.
Just four Lady Wildcats scored in the game, but three went for double figures, highlighted by McLayne Bobo’s game-high 17 points.
Young was the lone Eaglette to reach double figures and finished with 10.
