It was busy week on the pitch for the Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes last week, going 1-1-1 against Coffee County, Warren County and Tullahoma in the week’s worth of matches.
The Eaglettes got started on a strong note, taking down Coffee County in a convincing 4-1 match.
Junior Birtzel Haytin found the back of the net to put Shelbyville up 1-0 on a header off an Eaglette corner kick.
The following three goals came courtesy of Eaglette underclassmen, with freshman Maddie McNamee lacing a shot to the back of the net outside the 18 for the second strike.
Kaitlun Burk scored on a cross from an assist by Haytin and Avery Allen scored the fourth and final goal off an assist by Melody Miller.
“I am very pleased with our girl’s possession throughout the night. They worked well together as a team, and it showed,” Eaglette coach Casey Curry said.
With little time rest, the Eaglettes traveled to Warren County on Tuesday, but settled for a 1-1 draw.
Senior Kelly Ramirez scored the lone Eaglette goal off an assist by Burk.
“This was a tough tie, we possessed most of the game. We just couldn’t finish in the final third,” Curry said.
A busy week came to a tough end on Thursday at Tullahoma in a 3-0 loss to the Lady Wildcats.
Shelbyville held Tullahoma scoreless through the first half, but a barrage of shots by the hosts was more than the Eaglettes could overcome.
“This was a rough night for my girls. We held Tullahoma 0-0 in the first half, but just couldn’t keep that momentum in the second half. We had several injuries that hurt us and are hoping those girls heal quickly as we have 2 big district games this coming week,” Curry said.
The Eaglettes travel to Columbia on Tuesday and return home against Lincoln County on Thursday night.
