SHELBYVILLE — On any typical night, a 21-point effort would bode well for a team, but for the Golden Eaglettes on Tuesday night against Coffee County, Lanaya Young’s night was overshadowed by a combined 48 points from Channah Gannon and Jules Ferrell as the visitors defeated Shelbyville 75-45.
The biggest difference in the game came in the opening quarter as the Lady Raiders took off on a 27-8 run to open the game.
Gannon totaled 16 of her game-high 28 points in the opening quarter.
Shelbyville rallied to outscore Coffee County 15-12 in the second quarter, yet still trailed 39-23 at the half.
In the third, Young got the scoring started with a 3-pointer as she totaled 10 points out of the break.
But Ferrell answered with 10 of her own to lead a 24-point Lady Raider third.
For the game, Coffee County was an efficient 16-of-20 from the line, while the Eaglettes made just 5-of-16 tries.
