UNIONVILLE — A steady trickle of offense coupled with a strong night from the pitcher’s circle from Annie Prince landed the Community Viqueens a dominant 9-1 win over Blackman on Wednesday.
Blackman singled to lead off the game in the top of the first inning, but Prince settled in and sat the Lady Blaze down with three-straight punch outs to end the first inning.
Riding the momentum, a two-out double from Gracie Daniel knocked in Anna Haskins for the first Viqueen run.
A Blackman error then allowed a second Community run to score in the first.
Similarly to the first inning, Blackman put its first batter on base via base on balls, but then again Prince settled in and struck out the side to keep her hot streak rolling.
Although an error allowed Community to put a runner on base, Blackman flashed the leather and turned a double play to end the inning.
In the third, Haskins led off the inning and reached via error before Mattie Maxey slugged a two-run shot over the centerfield fence.
From there, Community scored in each of the following three innings to put the game well out of reach.
Prince helped her cause and knockedi n two runs in the fourth on a two-run double and Daniel delivered again on a line drive single, scoring Haylee Webb in the fifth.
Two more runs crossed the plate on a Lady Blaze error in the inning and by the end of the fifth, Community led 8-0.
Blackman got one back in the top of the sixth before a final Community run scored in the sixth when Maxey struck again and launched a two-out solo shot in the bottom of the inning.
Maxey led Community at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two home runs to her credit, while Webb, Daniel and Prince all doubled.
Daniel went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs as well.
Prince took the win in the circle and went four strong innings, giving up just three hits and striking out nine batters.
Daniel pitched the final three innings in relief and gave up one run on two hits to go along with two strikeouts.
