STAFF REPORT
RICHLAND — The Richland Raiders picked up a win over visiting Community in a non-district tilt on Friday night with a strong bookend effort in the first and fourth quarters in the 57-43 win over the Vikings.
Richland scored 21 points in the first and fourth quarters, which ultimately was the difference in the game.
Richland’s Carter Edwards scored 12 of his game-high 23 points in the first period, while Community was limited to just nine points, four of which came from Jaxson Williams.
While the first quarter belonged to the Raiders, Community outscored the Raiders 11-10 in the second quarter, but never seemed able to get the offense completely in flow.
By halftime, Richland led 31-20.
Both offenses were held to single figures in the third quarter, but again, Community was able to outscore the Raiders and cut into the lead, even if just a single possession.
Although Community rallied for 15 points in the fourth, Richland put a cap on the game and tacked on 21 more points, with Edwards again being the source of the Raider offense.
He added 10 more points to his game high total.
Williams led the Vikings with 14 points.
