MANCHESTER — The Shelbyville Central tennis teams swept Coffee County for a pair of 7-0 district wins on Wednesday afternoon.
The Eagles certainly earned their sweep, fending off the Red Raiders in several hard-fought matches.
No. 1 Henry Stone and No. 5 Carter Watson each claimed an 8-4 win over their opponents, while Tanner Johnson earned the hardest-fought win of the afternoon in the No. 4 slot by score of 8-7.
Justin Spence and Tucker Johnson won their singles matches 8-1 and 8-2, respectively.
In doubles, it was more of the same with Tucker Johnson and Stone outlasting the No. 1 Coffee County duo for the 8-4 win, while Spence and Tucker Johnson cruised to the 8-0 win.
It was more of the same for the Eaglettes, who dominated their individual matches en route to a 7-0 win of their own.
In singles No. 1 Lilly Smith and No. 2 Addie Berry each claimed an 8-3 win, while Sophie Ray and Elesa Aldis took 8-0 wins at the respective No. 3 and 5 slots.
No. 4 Abby Thaxton cruised to an 8-2 win for her singles victory.
Smith and Ray dominated in their doubles match and posted an 8-0 win, with Berry and Thaxton claiming an 8-3 win in the No. 2 doubles match.
