MURFREESBORO — Shelbyville Central picked up two impressive wins on Friday afternoon against Blackman.
The Eaglettes shutout the Lady Blaze for a 7-0 team win, while the Golden Eagles won a convincing 6-1 match.
No. 1 seed Lilly Smith, No. 4 Abby Thaxton and No. 5 Elsa Aldis all claimed 8-1 singles victories over their opponents, while No. 2 Addie Berry and No. 3 Sophie Ray each won 8-0 shutout wins.
The trend continued into doubles, with Smith and Ray taking the No. 1 doubles win, 8-2, while Berry and Thaxton cruised to an 8-3 win in the No. 2 doubles match.
While the Golden Eagles also took a dominant team win, the individual matches were much closer.
No. 1 Henry Stone edged out Antonio Yibirin for the 8-6 win, while Justin Spence claimed an 8-5 win in the No. 2 singles match.
Tanner Johnson and Carter Watson took respective 8-0 and 8-2 wins, while Tucker Johnson came up short in a hard-fought 8-6 final score in the No. 3 singles match.
While the singles matches were fairly close throughout the lineup, Shelbyville dominated the doubles matches against Blackman.
Stone and Tucker Johnson blanked the No. 1 duo from Blackman for the 8-0 win, while Spence and Tanner Johnson coasted to an 8-2 doubles victory in the No. 2 match.
