SANTA FE — The Community Viqueens picked up their second win of the season on Friday night thanks to a huge second half, crushing Santa Fe 31-21.
It was slow out of the gates for the Viqueens, who were held to a single field goal in the first frame, which came courtesy of a 3-pointer by Savannah Pearson.
Brooklyn Yoes added a pair of free throws, while Santa Fe hung on for a slim, 6-5 lead by the end of the first period.
While the offense was still sluggish into the second period, Community rallied for a halftime lead thanks to an 11-7 run.
Mattie Maxey led the way with five points.
Though the first half came as a struggle on the offensive end of the court, everything went right for the Purple and Gold in the second half.
Yoes led a stellar perimeter assault with three made treys in the third quarter and the Viqueens locked down the Lady Wildcats to the tune of just eight total second half points.
Community surged ahead with a combined 35 points in the second half to close out the 30-point win.
Yoes led all scorers with 13 points, while Haskins and Alyssa White both added 10 points in the win.
