GULF SHORES, Ala. — Community kept its red-hot season going over Spring Break as the Viqueens posted a perfect 4-0 record in the Gulf Coast Classic, hosted in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
The Viqueens picked up wins in the round-robin style tournament over Dale County, Waterloo, Wicksburg and Boaz.

Game 1 of the tournament got just three runs of productivity from the Viqueen lineup, but was able to keep the basepaths clear thanks to clutch defensive play and a gem of an outing by Annie Prince.
Prince gave up just two hits but struck out a staggering 15 batters to claim the win in the pitcher’s circle.
Brooklyn Yoes scored the game’s first run in the top of the third on a Dale County error.
Taylar Wessner plated the second run of the game on another Dale County error in the fifth before Wessner drove in Victoria Wells on a sac fly in top of the seventh.
Mattie Maxey and Carlie Blanton led the Viqueens at the plate, each smacking a double.

COMMUNITY 13, WATERLOO (Ala.) 0
In their second game of the tournament, the bats were hot for the Purple and Gold as Community crushed Waterloo 13-0.
The Viqueens hammered the Waterloo pitching staff for 13 hits and the ball was flying off the bat.
In total, Community slugged home runs from Taylar Wessner and Mattie Maxey.
Haylee Webb and Lexie Smith each clubbed a double, while Webb and McKenzie Tucker each tripled.
Kamryn Farrell knocked in a pair of runs on a base hit off the bench, while Smith finished with a pair of RBIs as well.
Wessner took the win in the pitcher’s circle and got the shutout, striking out six batters and giving up just two hits.

Although the final score was much closer than the game indicated, the Viqueens got all the run production they needed to beat Wiksburg in the first two innings.
The Viqueens knocked in four runs in the first inning and got the block party started with a lead-off double from Anna Haskins.
Mattie Maxey drove her in for the first run of the game, but Community got three more runs, including two off doubles by Carlie Blanton and Alana Tate, while Haylee Webb plated a fourth run of the inning on a RBI single.
The Viqueens then scored a single run in each of the second, third and fourth innings, which was good enough to out-last a four-run surge in the final two innings played.
Haskins, Gracie Daniel, Tate and Webb each recorded two hits in the win.
Annie Prince took the win as she toed the rubber and pitched a solid game, giving up four runs on three hits, but striking out seven.

COMMUNITY 2, BOAZ (Ala.) 1
The Viqueens closed their perfect run through the tournament with a thrilling 2-1 win over Boaz on Wednesday afternoon.
After a scoreless first inning, Community got on the board with some savvy play at the plate from Alana Tate, who laid down a perfect bunt single, scoring Taylar Wessner from third to go up 1-0.
That score held until Boaz mashed a RBI triple in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at one apiece.
Although Boaz rallied to tie the game, Gracie Daniel slugged the eventual game-winning RBI double on a line drive to left, scoring Mattie Maxey.
Wessner pitched six strong innings and allowed just one unearned run on seven hits, while striking out three.
At the plate, Maxey went 2-for-3, while Daniel had the biggest hit with her RBI double.
Anna Haskins, Alana Tate, Haylee Webb and Kamryn Farrell also singled in the win.
Wednesday afternoon’s win puts the Viqueens on a four-game win-streak as they return to Tennessee to face Richland on Tuesday, before traveling to backyard rival Forrest next Thursday.
