SHELBYVILLE — A monster second half by Lanaya Young powered Shelbyvlille Central to a 69-37 win over visiting Siegel on Friday night.
Early on, it looked like Shelbyville Central may run away with the game in the first half, thanks to a 23-5 run in the first quarter.
Jaz Western hit two of four Eaglette 3-pointers to open the first frame and posted 10 points to spur the hosts on early.
Young and Janiya Leslie also hit shots from the perimeter in the first frame.
But with an 18-point lead in hand, Siegel was able to muster up a bit of a rally and held the Eaglettes to just five points in the second quarter, with both field goals coming courtesy of Yasmine McFarland.

As a team, Shelbyville Central cashed in on 10-of-19 attempts in the win.
The Eaglettes also shot it well from the perimeter and finished with nine made treys, with Young knocking down six.
In addition to Young’s 28 points, Western and Leslie joined in double figures, scoring 14 and 10 points, respectively.
The Eaglettes hit the road on Monday night and travel to Summit before closing the week on Tuesday at Centennial.
