2024-25 Shelbyville Central High School Career-Technical Education Student of the Year: Itzel Aguilar

Itzel Aguilar has been named as the 2024-25 Shelbyville Central High School Career-Technical Education Student of the Year.  Itzel was nominated for the award by both of her Agriculture Education instructors and FFA advisors, Madison Smith and Morgan Grannas Rainey.

Itzel has been a four-year member of FFA (Future Farmers of America) and served as the 2023-24 FFA Chapter Secretary and the 2024-25 FFA Chapter President.  She was also named FFA Member of the Year at the 2024 FFA Chapter Banquet.  She has competed at the State level in Farm Business Management CDE and at the National level in Quiz Bowl; her team placed 12th.  Itzel also participated in Opening and Closing ceremonies at National FFA.  Itzel has earned her Greenhand Degree, her Chapter Degree, and her FFA State Degree. Within the Veterinary Science program of study, Itzel has completed Agriscience, Small Animal Science, Large Animal Science, and Veterinary Science finishing all four courses with an “A” average.  Itzel has used her knowledge and skills while working at Cascade Veterinary Hospital under the direction of Dr. Robert West. Itzel will finish her high school career ranked 4th in her graduating class and she will continue on to higher education pursuing a Bachelors degree.

Itzel is the daughter of Genaro and Maria Aguilar.

The qualifications for SCHS CTE Student of the Year are as follows:

-Student must be a graduating Senior.

-Student must be nominated by their CTE instructor.

-Student must complete 3 classes in their CTE Program Area.

-Student must maintain at least a “B” average in their CTE classes.

-Student must regularly model positive behavior and good attendance.

-Student should have accomplished at least one of the following:

-served as a CTE student organization officer

-participated at District, State, or National Competition

-demonstrated a high level of proficiency in their CTE program area
