LifeSource Family Solutions a Christ-focused and biblically-based nonprofit counseling center based out of Shelbyville Tenn., recently earned the 2025 Bronze Bright Spot Award from the Tennessee Department of Health’s Office of Primary Prevention—an honor given to community programs noted for improving public health through primary prevention.

The Bedford County Health Department elected to nominate LifeSource and its “Benefit of Hope” program for the group’s work improving the outcomes of metal health issues in Bedford County and working to destigmatize mental health. The award is designed to spotlight the efforts of local programs that meaningfully improve equity and mental health in Tennessee.

To celebrate the honor and raise money supporting LifeSource’s “Benefit of Hope” and their pro-bono/sliding scale programs, the organization held its annual Masquerade Gala on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Glass Hollow Table & Tavern on Shelbyville’s Historic Uptown Square, alongside the grand opening of Grindstone Cowboy, making for a busy corner of the square. The the me of the event was “Unmasking the Stigma.” Members of the Leadership Bedford Youth Class delivered the keynote speech.

Founded in 2023, LifeSource Family Solutions strives to offer affordable mental health and community support to the people of Bedford County. The group offers personal, family, couples, and spiritual counseling regardless of ability to pay. More than fifty percent of LifeSource’s clients receive counseling at no cost out of pocket.

The Benefit of Hope program began in 2022, when members of the Youth Leadership Bedford Class of 2023 organized an initiative following several youth mental health tragedies. Altogether, the group raised over $30,000 to help fund counseling grants those under 21. Those funds are now administered via LifeSource.

Executive Director Laura Tucker-Huggins, LPC-MHSP, ACS, said LifeSource’s mission is driven by both faith and service. “Together, we are breaking down barriers and making a difference by ensuring everyone can access the services they deserve,” she said.
