The City Council of Shelbyville convened at 6 p.m. in the evening and discussed various topics including declarations of new surplus vehicles being listed on GovDeals.com and various new rezoning and annexation motions particularly around the newly started MTSU Aerospace Facility project on Highway 231.

No public hearings were had during the meeting and was immediately followed by several resolutions to annex various acreage near the Shelbyville Municipal Airport and around State Route 437.

The Council also passed a motion to now allow the Mayor to go forward with the Downtown Improvement Grant (DIG) contract for $450,000, which will apply to the various changes that are being made to the historic downtown square area of Shelbyville, particularly around the Spring Street/Pedestrian Walkway project.

Several announcements were made as well. Three seats on the city planning commission and two seats on the Board of Zoning Appeals will be made by the Mayor. The City Hall and all Public Works will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25 in observation of Christmas Eve and Day along with Jan. 1 in observation of New Year’s Day.

A recording of the meeting is currently available on the Shelbyville Government’s YouTube (under “Shelbyville Gov TV”) in which the full archived livestream is listed for further review of the meeting on Tuesday.
