Assault allegations place a Harris Middle School teacher on administrative leave after an incident has been reported to school leadership and law enforcement. The Dec. 18 incident occurred between a teacher and student, according to the statement from Bedford County Schools (BCS). The details of the situation are undisclosed, however according to BCS, the teacher has now been placed on administrative leave and is pending a full investigation. Both parties have remained unnamed due to privacy concerns regarding the investigation.
The full statement from Bedford County Schools is as follows:
“Harris Middle School administration and Bedford County Schools (BCS) officials are aware of an incident that occurred December 18, 2025, involving an interaction between a teacher and a student. An allegation of assault committed by the teacher was reported to school leadership and local law enforcement. The teacher has been placed on administrative leave pending a full and impartial investigation.
The safety and well-being of our students are our highest priorities. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and will continue to work closely with the student’s family and all appropriate agencies throughout the investigative process. Out of respect for the privacy of the student and to preserve the integrity of the investigation, we cannot provide additional details at this time.
We are committed to supporting the student, the family, staff, and the school community. Counseling and support services are available to students and staff; families who would like assistance should contact the school office or the BCS Central Office. Harris Middle School and all Bedford County Schools remain dedicated to maintaining a safe learning environment for every student.”
