The Shelbyville City Council has decided to give the ‘Welcome to Shelbyville’ signs along city limits a fresh new look as the final design was chosen during the March 12 Regular Session.
There were two designs available for the Council to vote to approve, in which the pictured design was chosen. Four of these signs will be placed across the county along the major roads at the city limits.
With a total cost of $81,280, the signs will replace the current ones with a sandstone slab design featuring the seal of the City of Shelbyville and the same familiar “Welcome to Shelbyville” text.
Orders have been placed for the chosen design for the signs and installation will likely take place this coming May across a few days.
The locations for the signs is currently being determined, with current plans for replacing the two current wooden signs along the city limits on Hwy. 231 and Hwy. 41A being developed.
