In a special called meeting of the Shelbyville City Council Monday Mayor Randy Carroll was authorized to sign Airport Layout Plan Forecast Revisions as well as a Federal Contract Tower Application.

Paul Perry, Director of the Shelbyville Municipal Airport, told council members the application process to become a candidate for the Federal Contract Tower Program requires a large amount of data to be collected and properly presented.

The Aeronautics Division of the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has informed Perry the airport’s Annual Capital Improvement Program has been adjusted to allow for the project to be assessed.

Perry informed council members a work order for Garver, LLC, consultant to the Shelbyville Airport, has been developed outlining the cost and product to be produced. The Work Order also provides updating forecasting numbers for both the Shelbyville Airport Plan and the application.

The application authorization for $131,800 for a TDOT Aeronautics Grant was approved by a 4-0 vote. Council members Stephanie Isaacs and Gary Haile were not present.

The grant will require a five percent payment from the city for $6,590.
