BELL BUCKLE — A steady trickle of offense through the final four innings was more than the Webb School could overcome in Monday night’s 8-2 loss to visiting Columbia Academy.
Columbia Academy plated two runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings and held on for the six-run win.
The Bulldogs came out swinging and knocked in a pair of runs in the top of the first off starting Webb pitcher Evan Kirby.
Kirby helped his own cause in the bottom of the first and mashed a two-run blast to left to even the score at two.
But that’s all Webb was able to muster up, as the Feet were held to just three hits over the final six innings.
Kirby went 1-for-2 and led Webb at the plate, while Owen Fogle, Ryan Edwards and Sammy Ledbetter all singled.
Kirby pitched an inning and gave up two runs on three hits before Jayden Lee took over and pitched pitched three innings, giving up two runs on three hits, while striking out one.
William Farrar worked the final three innings in relief for Webb.
The Feet will look to even the score on Tuesday at Columbia Academy before closing the week against Marshall County on Thursday and Pope John Paul II on Saturday morning.
