Staff Report
The Bedford County Post is excited to announce its newest writer James Wood as a member of the team.
Wood is a Bedford County native and grew up in Flat Creek, and recently graduated from Motlow State Community College with a degree in arts.
“I’ve been writing my entire life,” Wood said. “I used to write short stories for myself all the time as early as six-years-old. So, it’s been something that I’ve been actively participating in for a long time.”
Wood said he has an interest in what’s going on in the community and in local government, as he believes it’s important for both the community at large and himself.
“A lot of it is overlooked and I think that it’s important to know what’s going on at the county and city level,” Wood said. “It’s important to the other people in my community.”
Besides what’s happening on the government level, Wood is also looking to write about all the good things that’s happening in the community, like the organization Sleep and Heavenly Place who have started a chapter in the area.
“They deliver beds to low-income communities for children who don’t have them,” Wood said. “It’s important to me to get the word out about those kinds of things and for us as a community to gather around and participate in making things better in Shelbyville and Bedford County as a whole.”
As for what he is looking forward to the most, Wood said it is talking to people.
“I like hearing people talk about themselves,” Wood said. “There are so many people with interesting stories to tell.”
“I am very excited to announce James as our newest Staff Writer and to have him as a part of the Post team. His eagerness to serve this community is wonderful to see and will be a great addition to this newspaper. I am looking forward to watching him do great things.” said General Manager Diandra Womble
