UNIONVILLE — Despite hammering out nine hits the Community Viqueens struggled to push runs across the plate in a Sunday afternoon matinee against Blackman.
Community took a 1-0 lead over the Lady Blaze with a lead-off solo blast in the bottom of the second inning.
A Viqueen error allowed Blackman to tie the game at one in the top of the third.
It wasn’t until a RBI double and fielder’s choice in the top of the fifth did Blackman take the 3-1 lead over Community.
Blackman added a fourth run in the top of the sixth, but Community got one back in the bottom of the frame.
With one out, Taylar Wessner connected on a ground ball single to left, scoring Gracie Daniel.
But that was as far as the Viqueens got in run support as Lady Blaze starting pitcher Madison Keel forced back-to-back ground outs to end the Community threat.
While it was still just a two-run game heading to the seventh, Blackman put the game out of reach by plating five more in the seventh, including three runs off two errors.
Aside from an Alyssa White single in the bottom of the inning, Keel kept the Viqueens off the base paths and held on for the seven-run win.
Haylee Webb went 2-for-3 at the plate and Tate both went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Annie Prince was 2-for-2.
Taylar Wessner pitched five innings, giving up three runs on seven hits with a pair of strikeouts while Gracie Daniel worked the final two innings in relief.
Keel went the distance for Blackman and gave up two runs on nine hits with two strikeouts.
