Just how good was Stephen Bobo during his freshman season with the Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles? He batted an impressive .359, driving in 21 runs and scoring 32 more.
He smacked seven doubles and added a home run as well.
But as impressive as he was at the plate, he was even more dominant on the bump for the Golden Eagles.
Bobo made 11 appearances for Shelbyville Central and in 47 innings pitched, allowed just 30 hits and nine earned runs.
He struck out a staggering 61 batters and issued just 14 walks.
He finished with a 1.34 ERA and a 4-1 record.
All those components considered, Bobo was named to the MaxPreps Underclass All-America team.
The MaxPreps Underclass All-America teams recognize the top juniors, sophomores and freshmen from teh 2024 season.
Thirty members are selected to the junior, sophomore and freshmen classes.
