Boles leads Webb past Knights

HENDERSONVILLE — On Monday night at Pope John Paul II, Gunnar Boles went 3-for-4 with two doubles and drove in five runs as the Webb School (4-2) blasted the Knights, 17-5.
There was plenty of offense to go around as Webb belted out 11 hits in the dominant win.
Owen Fogle also had a stellar night at the plate, going 3-for-4, driving in three runs as well.
Webb jumped out to a 2-1 lead by the end of the first and tacked on five more in the second.
Despite Pope John Paul II getting two runs in the fourth and fifth innings, Webb plated 10 runs combined in the sixth and seventh innings to take the 12-run lead.
It was another strong outing by Evan Kirby, who pitched five innings, striking out five batters and giving up five runs on eight hits.
Sammy Ledbetter pitched the final inning in relief and struck out a pair of batters.
