Mr. Bruce Yeargan Thompson, Jr., age 92, of Bell Buckle, TN, died on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at ALIVE HOSPICE in Murfreesboro after suffering a stroke. He was born in Bell Buckle to the late Bruce and Ruby Thompson.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his daughter, Teresa Gwen Long of Murfreesboro, and predeceased by an infant daughter, Tammie Denise; a son, Terry Lynn; and a daughter, Connie Ellen Sullins. He is also survived by grandchildren, Daphne Carroll, Erin Mason, Maria Goolsby, Jamie Thompson, Dustin Thompson, Jeremy Mosley, and Cecily Sullins; great-grandchildren, Kristan Morjal, Patrick Carroll, Madison Helmick, Jonathan Goolsby, Casey Goolsby, Samuel Goolsby, Mia Mosley, Alliyah Hail, Rowenna Campbell, Finn Isaac Davis, Olive Gipson, Faith Thompson, and Hope Thompson. He is also survived by his sister, Sybil Bowen, of Woodbury.
Mr. Thompson proudly served his country in the US Army from November 27, 1951, until November 20, 1953, spending 11 months and 14 days in Korea during the Korean War conflict. Later he worked and retired from Oman Construction, Nashville, as a dump truck driver.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Smith Family Funeral & Cremation Services, 3277 Franklin Road, Murfreesboro. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Hazel Cemetery in Bell Buckle, TN.
