From the end of September to the beginning of October, the American Mule and Music Association (AMMA) joined forces with Uncle Dave Macon Days at the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration grounds in Shelbyville to present the Macon Music and Mules Festival. This unique event, now in its 42nd year, celebrates the life and legacy of local entertainer and Grand Ole Opry star Uncle Dave Macon, known for his love of mules and claw hammer banjo style music.

The festival’s primary objective was to give back to the community, with the United Veterans Council of Bedford County, Tennessee (UVCBC), chosen as the beneficiary. Through a creative initiative, a mule named Danielle was donated by Heritage Reality of Shelbyville, and a raffle generated $8,153.00, presented to UVCBC in November. The check was also presented at the VFW’s lunch on Sunday.
