CEMETERY RIBBON CUTTING

The City of Shelbyville held a ribbon cutting for the columbarium at Willow Mount Cemetery last Wednesday. It is designed for people to be able to place the ashes of loved ones in a memorial setting. The idea for the columbarium at Willow Mount was introduced to the Shelbyville City Council by William Christie, Vice Mayor and a City Council member. Shelbyville Mayor Randy Carroll cut the ceremonial ribbon. He recognized Christie along with council members Marilyn Ewing and Bobby Turnbow who were present along with City Manager Scott Collins, Cemetery Sexton Ben Chapman, and Assistant Sexton Albert Jakubec, Cemetery employees Coy Mason and James Green, Shelbyville Parks Director Mike Alsup, Shelbyville Public Works Director Buck Vallad, Doak-Howell Funeral Home, Beasley Excavating and Leoma Monument for donating a concrete bench. City Council members Henry Feldhaus, Stephanie Isaacs, and Gary Haile were not present.
