Champs snap 4-game skid, beat Grundy Co.

COALMONT — Cascade snapped a four-game skid in Saturday’s makeup game at Grundy County and grabbed its first District win of the season on the heels of a stellar defensive effort in the second half.
The Champs held the Yellowjackets to single digits in the third and fourth quarter and held on for the 62-53 win.
Grundy County’s Sam Parsons went for a game-high 25 points, but connected on just two shots from the floor in the second half.
In fact, as a team, Grundy County made just four second-half field goals.
The game started on a torrid pace in the first half, with Saebyn Burris tossing in nine of his team-high 20 points in the first quarter.
After trailing 21-16 after the first quarter, Cascade cut the Grundy County lead to a single possession by halftime.
From there, Cascade held the Jackets to six points in the third and just nine in the fourth.
Joining Burris in double digits was Isaac McElroy, who tacked on 15 points in the Champs’ win.
