A staple of the Viqueen infield, Community’s Haylee Webb, along with teammate Annie Prince, signed her letter of intent to continue her softball career at Chattanooga State next season.
“It was a really happy feeling. All my hard work finally paid off,” Webb said.
Webb has made her impact felt for Community playing second base and her defensive prowess helped land her a spot on the Chattanooga State roster.
While there were other schools in consideration, Chattanooga State stood out for a couple of reasons.
“There were a couple different ones. It’s the No. 1 JUCO for softball in Tennessee. So that was one reason. But the coaches are also very nice and seem very much like coach Cam (Farrell),” Webb said.
Webb first got started playing at an early age, following in her older sister’s footsteps.
“I started playing when I was three-years-old. My sister has always played and I always have looked up to her,” she said.
Being part of the culture that has formed one of the best softball programs in the state has been rewarding since she landed in Unionville.
“I love it. Moving here has changed everything for me,” she said.
Webb put together a solid junior year last year, notably at the plate.
She batted .321 and slugged home 22 RBIs to go along with 11 doubles, two triples and one home run.
Webb plans on pursuing a degree in business.
