CORNERSVILLE — After Carlie Blanton cleared the bases with a double to center field in the top of the third, the three-run hit gave the Viqueens a 6-0 lead.
Needing just three outs to claim a win, Cornersville (2-1) stunned Community (4-3) and rallied for seven runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a 7-6 win over the Purple and Gold.
McKenzie Tucker, Alyssa White and Anna Haskins all singled to load the bases, bringing Blanton to the plate in the top of the seventh.
Following Blanton’s three RBI double, the Lady ‘Dawgs got out of the inning by turning a double play.
Then, Cornersville’s Zoe Blackwell was hit by a pitch to lead off the seventh and a RBI single by Anna Wood brought home the first Cornersville run of the night.
An error and a RBI single added a second Lady ‘Dawg run of the evening.
After loading the bases, starting Cornersville pitcher Carmen Ward called her own shot and crushed a grand slam to tie the game at six.
Following back-to-back walks, Blackwell stepped to the plate for her second plate appearance of the seventh and ground out to second, but not before the game-winning run to crossed the plate.
Annie Prince and Tucker drove in the first two runs of the game in the second inning before Brooklyn Yoes connected on a fourth-inning RBI single.
Blanton led the Viqueens at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBIs, while Tucker went 2-for-3 with a RBI as well.
Prince pitched 6 1/3 innings and struck out a staggering 14 batters, but gave up seven runs on six hits.
Community hosts Cannon County on Friday night for the District 9-AA opener at 5:30 p.m.
