SHELBYVILLE — Back-to back home runs wasn’t enough as Shelbyville Central’s Golden Eagles fell 14-9 to visiting Central Magnet School in the home season opener on Monday night.
Carlson Williams and Nick Johnson ripped back-to-back solo home runs in the bottom of the third inning to give the Golden Eagles a 5-4 lead.
Shelbyville Central scored four more runs in the fourth frame to go up 9-4, but Central Magnet School closed out the game with 10-unanswered runs to seal the deal.
The Golden Eagles aided their opponent by committing six errors.
Williams got the start on the mound for Shelbyville Central with relief appearances by Michael Estrada, Steven Bobo and Ashton Whorley.
Williams added a double for the Golden Eagles at the plate, while Johnson added a single.

TULLAHOMA 5, SHELBYVILLE CENRAL 4
TULLAHOMA — Shelbyville Central battled till the end but came up short in a 5-4 extra inning loss at Tullahoma on Tuesday evening.
The Wildcats pushed across a run in an extra inning to claim the victory.
The Golden Eagles (2-5) rallied for a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to even the score at 4-4.
Carston Williams went 2-for-2 to lead Shelbyville Central at the plate with Caden Duggin collecting two hits.
Palmer Edwards got the start on the mound for the Golden Eagles, pitching six strong innings giving up four runs, all unearned, three hits with seven strikeouts and only one walk.
Michael Estrada pitched one scoreless inning before handing the ball over to William Bobo.
Mason Bratcher got win on the bump for Tullahoma.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Thursday against Forrest High School at 6 p.m.
