SHELBYVILLE — Shelbyville Central’s Golden Eagle soccer team suffered a 4-2 district loss to Columbia on Tuesday evening at home.
“We actually played great, minus 20 minutes where we didn’t have our usual energy. We made several errors in the back line and just weren’t strong enough stepping to the ball to protect our goal keeper,” Golden Eagle coach Chris Fritz said.
“Also, our front line pressure has to improve to be scarier for opponents trying to play short.”
Shelbyville Central will continue to work as they prepare to close out the regular season schedule and move into the postseason.
“Everyone in our district has quality players and we will have to make our pieces shine. We will be working on our half time adjustments a little more in the coming days as well as playing in tighter more congested areas.’” Fritz said.
Yaden Nino and Emmanuel Leyva were the goal scorers with an assist from Daniel Torres.
