Eagles fall short to CMS

SHELBYVLLE — Offense was on a premium for both the Golden Eagles and Central Magnet in Tuesday night’s non-district clash.
A sixth-inning run by Shelbyville tied the game at two, but Central Magnet responded with a two-spot in the top of the seventh to beat Shelbyville, 4-2.
The two teams combine for just three hits.
Shelbyville Central’s lone hit came in the bottom of the third inning when Caden Duggin slugged a ground ball single to left.
After Central Magnet scored the game’s first run in the third, the Tigers padded their lead and scored on a passed ball, making it a 2-0 advantage.
Palmer Edwards cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fourth when he scored on a wild pitch after drawing a walk to lead off the inning.
The Golden Eagles later tied the game when William Bobo hit a sac-fly to deep center field, scoring Braxton Vari from third, tying the game at two.
But as the fates would have it, Central Magnet responded int he top of the seventh with a two-out, two-RBI single to score the eventual game-winning runs.
Stephen Bobo was the tough-luck losing pitcher, despite having tossed a gem.
He went five innings and gave up just two unearned runs on one hit while striking out nine.
Duggin worked an inning in relief and was charged with two runs and gave up just one hit and struck out two.
Brody Lovvorn also worked an inning in relief and struck out the side.
