SHELBYVILLE — Everything was rolling for the Golden Eagles in their home opener on Saturday afternoon.
Shelbyville put three players in double figures and had three more a point a way as the Eagles crushed Glencliff 82-39.
The Eagles scored at will and wasted no time setting the tone in the game, racing out to a 22-6 lead after the first period.
Tae’Shawn Shelton led the way with eight points, while Javon Lee chipped in six more in the opening period.
The Eagles continued to pad their lead with a 17-12 run in the second, but the biggest dagger came in a third-quarter eruption.
Shelbyville put the game well out of reach with a 38-point effort in the third.
Jordan Taylor led the explosion with 11 points, while six additional Eagles penciled their name into the scoring column in the quarter.
With the game well in hand, the two teams combined for just nine points in the fourth quarter.
Taylor’s 17 points led the Eagles, Lee and Shelton added 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Malek Johnson, Idris Grey and Tommie Cannon each added nine points for Shelbyville Central as well.
The Eagles get the remainder of the week off until Friday night when Shelbyville will face Clarksville Northeast in the Bedford County Classic.
