SHELBYVILLE — After a week’s worth of rain outs, the Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles finally got back on the diamond on Sunday afternoon and with a five-run fifth inning, the Eagles held off former district foe Franklin County, 9-6.
William Bobo did a little bit of everything for the Eagles.
At the plate, he went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple and he took the win on the mound, pitching two scoreless innings in relief.
He struck out two and didn’t allow a hit.
In total, Shelbyville hammered the Rebels for 12 hits.
In addition to Bobo’s two, extra-base hit night, Kyler Trice, Nick Johnson and Stephen Bobo all doubled as well.
Palmer Edwards got the start on the mound and went three innings, giving up four runs on three hits, while striking out three.
Stephen Bobo worked a scoreless inning in relief with a pair of punch outs, while Carston Williams also pitched an inning, giving up two unearned runs on two hits with three strikeouts.
After the Eagles drove in five runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 9-4 lead, Franklin County rallied for two in the top of the seventh.
