SHELBYVILLE — Visting Warren County jumped out to a seven-point, first-half lead, but the steady play of Jordan Taylor helped guide Shelbyville Central to a 57-55 comeback win against the Pioneers on Tuesday night.
Warren County built a 19-15 lead in a highly-competitive first quarter, with Deashawn Adams scoring nine points to pace the Pioneers early.
The Eagles relied on balance as Taylor, Tae’Shawn Shelton and Jevon Lee each scored four points in the first quarter.
In the second, Warren County leaned on Nate Turner’s hot shooting to lead a 16-point quarter.
Turner cashed in on nine points from the perimeter and the visitors extended their lead to 35-27 by halftime.
But in the third, Taylor caught fire for the Eagles and sank 11 points, including a 3-pointers to lead a 15-point Shelbyville rally.
The Eagles completed the comeback on a 15-8 run in the fourth.
In total, Taylor went for a game-high 24 points, while Shelton added 10.
The Eagles also got a pair of 3-pointers from Jack Conditt, who finished with eight points.
Shelbyville Central also went 9-for-16 from the free throw line in the win as well.
Turner’s 18 points led the Pioneers.
The win improves Shelbyville to 5-2 in District 9-4A standings and sets up a key district matchup on the road Friday at Lincoln County.
Shelbyville will travel to Lincoln County on Friday, having won five their past seven games.
