Eagles ride unbeaten streak through ‘Classic

SHELBYVILLE Shelbyville Central claimed a huge 4-3 win over visiting Windward (Los Angeles) in action at home on Friday evening in the Mid South Classic.
Windward featured right-handed pitcher Oregon commit Alex Umland, but the Golden Eagles were able to push across a run in the bottom of the sixth inning, right before the time limit was called to end the game.
Shelbyville freshman left-hander Ashton Whorley got the start on the mound from Shelbyville Central and went four strong innings, allowing three runs, two earned, four hits with three strikeouts and only one walk.
William Bobo took over in the fifth and claimed the win.
He fanned three with no runs, walks.
Umland went the distance and fanned 11 with one walk and eight hits,
Carston Williams and Nick Johnson led the Golden Eagles at the plate with a double and single each, while Nick Hooper added a pair of hits.
In other weekend tournament action, Shelbyville Central defeated Cameron 17-2, North Posey 3-0, and rolled past Rocket City 12-2.
