Eagles’ season ends, once play resumes at Lincoln Co.

FAYETTEVILLE — In the District 9-4A play-in game that was postponed last Tuesday night due to a medical emergency at halftime by a player, host Lincoln County claimed a 64-54 win over Shelbyville Central when play resumed two days later.
Golden Eagle senior Kyler Trice was transferred to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville and is showing signs of improvement.
The Falcons held a slim 28-27 lead at the intermission and slowly increased that advantage when play resumed.
Shelbyville Central were outscored 21-16 to trail 49-43 going into the fourth quarter and could never gain the lead from that point.
Reese Smith led the winners with 29 points while Maddox Franklin added 17.
Despite not playing in the second half, Trice led the Golden Eagles with a dozen points.
Shamarion Draper contributed 11 while Mookie Johnson added 10.
Shelbyville Central (6-21) closed out the season with the loss.
