In a pair of extra-innings district games against Columbia, Shelbyville Central suffered an 8-2 Game 1 loss with a disastrous ninth frame, while rebounding to take Game 2, 7-4.

SHELBYVILLE 7, COLUMBIA 4
A night after going nine innings with Columbia, it only seemed logical Game 2 in the series would spill to extras again, this time, it was Shelbyville however that took the win, beating the Lions 7-4 to even the series.
Columbia put the pressure on the Eagles, driving in two in the bottom of the first and two more in the third, while Shelbyville was held scoreless through the first six frames.
In the seventh, the Columbia pitching staff blatantly struggled to find the plate and Shelbyville’s plate discipline allowed the Eagles to plate four runs to force extra innings.
Brody Lovvorn singled with one out to drive in the first run of the inning, while a passed ball allowed Carston Williams to score.
A bases-loaded walk by Kyler Trice brought home a third Eagle run of the inning before a hit batter scored the fourth Shelbyville run.
From there, the Eagle bullpen posted two scoreless innings before Palmer Edwards got a bases-loaded walk to score the go-ahead run.
Nick Hopper later singled home a second run of the 10th inning, while a passed ball allowed Nick Johnson to score the final run of the game.
Hopper led the Eagles at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
On the mound, Austin Whorley took the win, pitching 1 1/3 innings in relief, not giving up any runs, while allowing one hit and one strikeout.
Edwards went 5 1/3, giving up four runs on six hits while striking out four before Blake Bone worked 3 1/3 no-hit innings in relief with a strikeout to his credit.

COLUMBIA 8, SHELBYVILLE 2
A disastrous ninth inning spoiled a stellar outing by freshman lefty Stephen Bobo.
Bobo pitched seven strong innings, giving up just two runs on one hit while striking out nine batters.
Shelbyville gave Bobo a two-run cushion in the third with a two RBI double off the bat of short stop Carston Williams.
Columbia scratched together two runs over the next three innings, the second of which came in the top of the seventh, to force extra innings.
After a scoreless eighth, the disastrous ninth came.
Two RBI singles, a bases-loaded walk, an error and a hit batter with the bases loaded allowed Columbia to pile on six runs to blow the game open.
Bobo helped his own cause, going 3-for-5, while Williams was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a double.
