EAGLEVILLE — Although a low-scoring first half left the Vikings with a seven-point lead, a 36-point second-half surge by Eagleville ultimately was more than the Community Vikings could overcome in a 53-42 loss on Friday night.
A one-two punch by Landon Lovvorn and Maki Fleming powered the Purple and Gold through much of the first half.
Lovvorn recorded six points in the first quarter and in the second, Fleming battled his way to the free throw line and finished with six points of his own, including a perfect 4-of-4 effort.
As a team, the Vikings were 6-of-6 from the charity stripe in the first half.
By halftime, Community led Eagleville, 24-17.
But the second half became an absolute foul fest and Eagleville took full advantage, cashing in on 16-of-19 second-half free throw attempts.
Eagleville doubled up the Vikings on an 18-9 run through both, the third and fourth quarter.
In total, the Eagles saw seven players pencil their name in the scoring column, with Camden Cole leading the Eagles with 13 points.
Fleming led all scorers with 22 points.
Community hit the road this week with a pair of road games, beginning on Tuesday night with a trip to Cornersville and a trip to Macon County on Friday night.
