SHELBYVILLE — One win came in dominant fashion and the other was a pure grind.
In the end, both Shelbyville tennis teams picked up wins over Lincoln County, with the Eaglettes coasting to a 6-1 win and the Golden Eagles edging out the Falcons, 4-3.
For the Eaglettes, this was mostly a dominant showcase in front of a home crowd at H.V. Griffin Park.
Shelbyville got the match started by claiming both doubles matches, with No. 1 doubles partners Lily Smith and Sophie Ray picking up the 8-4 win and No. 2 duo Abby Thaxton and Addie Berry grinding out an 8-6 win.
Smith added an 8-2 win over Kate Smith in the No. 1 singles match, while Ray won her No. 3 singles match, 8-3.
Thaxton claimed a 7-4 No. 4 win, while Elesa Aldis was able to fight off her opponent for an 8-4 win in the No. 5 slot.
Addie Berry fell in her No. 2 singles match, 8-1.

For the Golden Eagles, it was an all-out grind for every point.
Shelbyville split doubles matches, with Henry Stone and Tucker Johnson being edged out in an 8-6 loss in the No. 1 doubles match, while Justin Spence and Tanner Johnson were able to pull away for an 8-5 win.
With the team score tied 1-1 after doubles, every singles match became even more important.
Spence and Tucker Johnson both won their matches in the No. 2 and 3 spots by score of 8-3, while Tanner Johnson battled his way to an 8-6 win in the No. 4 match.
Carter Watson came up short, 8-3, in the No. 5 match, while Stone fell in an absolute gauntlet of a singles match to Jackson Porter, 9-7.
