SHELBYVILLE — It can sometimes be tough to beat a team three times in a season, especially when Game 3 is in a survive and advance game.
No problem for Shelbyville Central (15-11) on Monday night against Spring Hill in the District 9-4A play-in game.
The Eaglettes completed their three-game sweep over the Lady Raiders (10-18) in dominant fashion to advance in the district tournament with the 58-27 win.
The Eaglettes imposed their will over the out-matched Lady Raiders and saw three players lead the way in double figures, with Sammie Brown and Jaz Western combining for 31 points in the win.
The Eaglettes jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter and never let off the throttle, relying on timely perimeter shooting and the ability to score off the block.
It was just a four-point lead by the end of the first quarter for the Eaglettes, but the lead for the home team was never in doubt.
Shelbyville outscored Spring Hill 12-7 in the third, but it was a 22-6 run in the third that put the game away.
Paige Blackburn scored 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Jaz Western added six of her own in the dominant third quarter.
Defensively, the Eaglettes held the Lady Raiders to single digits in all four quarters.
As a team, the Eaglettes connected on seven 3-pointers, with Sammie Brown knocking down four and Blackburn adding three more.
Brown led all scorers with 16 points, while Western chipped in 15.
Blackburn added 13 in the win as well.
The Eaglettes advance to take on No. 1 seed Coffee County on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Manchester.
