FAYETTEVILLE — A scoreless second quarter and an off night shooting from the perimeter was more than the Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes could overcome in a 56-30 district loss on Saturday.
Shelbyville hung tough through the first quarter, with senior Paige Blackburn connecting on six of the team’s 12 points.
But the Lady Falcons still held a 14-12 advantage after the first quarter.
While the first period was competitive, the Eaglettes went 0-for-9 from the floor, including 0-for-5 from beyond the arc, while Lincoln County grew its lead to 14 points by halftime.
The Lady Falcons continued to pour on the offense as the hosts doubled up the Eaglettes in the third quarter on an 18-9 run and then closed the game, outscoring Shelbyville 12-9 in the fourth.
In total, three Lady Falcons hit double figures, with Abby Bryan’s 16 points leading all scorers.
Blackburn led the Eaglettes with 10 points.
