MANCHESTER — The high-octane Coffee County offense was on full display on Friday night in the District 9-4A match up.
The Red Raiders entered Friday night with a perfect 24-0 record and sat firmly in the drivers seat of the district race.
From the opening tip-off, the balance and effectiveness on the offensive end of the court was more than the Eaglettes could match.
Coffee County’s Natalie Barnes had the home team rolling early with 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, in the opening frame.
In the second, it was Channah Gannon who went for 11 points in the second frame, while the Eaglettes struggled to get the offense rolling.
Shelbyville was held to just three field goals in the first half, highlighted by a 3-pointer from Destiny McCullough in the first.
In the third, Jada Perry found a bit of rhythm on offense and scored seven points to lead a 10-point Eaglette quarter.
But even with Perry’s efforts, Coffee County doubled up the Eaglettes on a 20-10 run.
Perry was the only Eaglette to reach double figures and finished with 11 points, while Lanaya Young added six.
Twelve Red Raiders penciled their name into the scoring column, with Gannon’s 17 points being the top mark in the game.
