LEWISBURG — After a slow start in the Tigerette Christmas Classic against Culleoka on Thursday night, Shelbyville Central had the offense clicking on all cylinders in a 54-30 blowout win against the Lady Warriors.
Shelbyville was held to just nine points in the opening frame and just three made field goals, highlighted by a 3-pointer from Jaz Western.
Even with the low production in the first quarter, Shelbyville eventually found its rhythm and exploded for 16 points in the second quarter to blow the game wide open.
Janiya Leslie caught fire and scored nine of her game-high 13 points to help lead the Eaglettes to a 25-11 halftime lead.
Defensively, Shelbyville held Culleoka to just two made shots from the floor.
The production continued into the second half as the Eaglettes posted 18 more in the third period, this time with Lanaya Young leading the charge with eight points.
Jada Berry added four more in the third period as well.
In total, 10 Eaglettes penciled their name into the scoring column, with Leslie’s 13 leading two in double figures.
Young went on to finish with 10 points.
The Eaglettes also shot it well from the perimeter and knocked down eight treys in the win.
Shelbyville is back in action on Friday night in the Tigerette Christmas Classic, facing Centennial at 6 p.m.
