Eaglettes’ stellar 4th downs Spring Hill

SPRING HILL — Shelbyville Central picked up a much-needed District 9-4A win on Thursday night at Spring Hill.
The Eaglettes overcame a slow first-half shooting, but rallied in the second half, outscoring the Lady Raiders 32-8 to win their second-straight 9-4A matchup.
The Eaglettes made just two baskets in the first quarter, courtesy of Lanaya Young and Sammie Brown, but the limited Spring Hill to just three points.
The Lady Raiders rebounded behind Jeycelyn Brashear in the second quarter and went for 12 points.
Brashear scored nine points to lead Spring Hill to a 15-14 halftime lead.
Sammie Brown took over in the second quarter and scored eight points, including two 3-pointers, while defensively the Eaglettes held Spring Hill to just three points in the quarter for the second time during the game.
The Eaglettes completed the 23-point win by notching another 22 in the fourth frame.
Young added nine points in the fourth, while Brown hit a pair of 3-pointers.
In total, Brown led all scorers with 19 points, while Young also hit double figures and finished with 12.
The Eaglettes go for their third-straight district win on Friday night against Lincoln County, hoping to avenge last week’s loss to the Lady Falcons.
Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. on Friday evening.
