The Sevier Street First Baptist Church will celebrate this year’s First Holy Communion on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 10 a.m. Pastor Herbert Stewart will deliver The Spoken Word.

The monthly board meeting for the town of Normandy will be Monday, Jan. 8, at their town hall. The work session will begin at 5 p.m. and the public meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend both meetings.

The Shelbyville-Bedford County Public Library will be hosting their Teen D&D/RPG Club on Saturday’s at 1 p.m. The club is focused on playing tabletop role-playing games, where each person creates their own character to be part of a larger story. The Bedford County Finance Committee will meet Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 4:15 in Room 110 of the Bedford County Business Complex, 200 Dover St.

The Bedford County Board of Zoning Appeals meeting scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 18, was postponed one week due to weather. The meeting will be held 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, in the Community Room on the second floor of the historic Bedford County Courthouse.

The Shelbyville Municipal Airport Authority will hold its meeting on Thursday, Jan. 25, at noon at the airport’s conference room.

The Shelbyville-Bedford County Public Library will hold an After-School Storytime for all ages on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 3 p.m. After-School Storytime is open to school-age and younger children alike. The library’s interactive story times introduce young children to reading, music, STEAM, and language with stories, songs, and activities.  

The Board of Mayor and Alderman have rescheduled last week’s meeting to Thursday 1/25 and Monday 1/29. Both meetings will be held at 5:30pm.

The next distribution day for the Wheel Community Food Pantry will be Jan. 26 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 2547 Hwy 64 West. A photo ID is required and no more than two families per car.

A book signing with Fredia Lusk will Saturday, February 3, at 10 a.m. at the Shelbyville-Bedford County Library. Hear from local author Fredia Lusk about her book, "African Americans Living in Bedford County from 1820 to 2020." Over the course of three years, Fredia Lusk researched local African American history in Bedford County from historical archives
