Fire destroys house in Wartrace

The Bedford County Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire Sunday night in Wartrace.

Calls came into the 911 Communications Center shortly after 7 p.m. reporting a house at 328 Spring Street to be on fire.  Units en route were advised of unknown occupants still in the residence.

Initial units on scene found the house filled with smoke and flames showing. They also encountered a resident suffering from smoke inhalation.  Bedford County EMS arrived on scene and transported the occupant to a local hospital.

The American Red Cross was requested to the scene.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Property records have the home under the name of Felicia Overcast Wells.
