Huge 4th puts Vikes back in win column

UNIONVILLE — A 23-point fourth quarter put the Community Vikings (9-12) back in the win column on Tuesday night.
The Purple and Gold got a game-high 18 points from Maki Fleming and the Vikes took the 62-53 win over Harpeth.
It was a closely-fought battle through the first three quarters, with Community posting leads of 13-12 after the first and 27-24 at the half.
The Indians (3-16) rallied on a 15-12 run in the third quarter to knot the game at 39 heading to the fourth.
Harpeth looked to continue its second-half surge with eight points from Dakoda Grammer, but it was the combined effort of Fleming and Landon Berman who were able to spark the 23-point fourth quarter to secure the win.
In the decisive fourth, Community was effectively able to work its way to the line and cashed in on a perfect 9-of-9 attempts in the final frame alone.
Berman went for 10 points in the fourth quarter and Fleming added five more.
In addition to Fleming’s game-high 18 points, Berman chipped in 14 of his own.
Jordan Johnston led the visitors with 14.
The win put the Vikings back in the win column and sets up a brutal five-game stretch of District 9-AA games to close the regular season, beginnig on Wednesday against Cannon County.
